  1. I have an .avi i downloaded and it came with files subs.idx and subs.sub.

I usually just convert avi with winavi to dvd and burn it, but this time i need the subs on as its a foreign film, i've never added subs before so i haven't a clue how to begin, if someone can help i'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Well, I would install Virtual Dub, VobSub with the TextSub filter, and TMPGEnc on my system.

Load the AVI into Virtual Dub, add the TextSub filter, with the .sub file loaded on it.

Frameserve to TMPGenc. Use a DVD template and encode to DVD MPEG-2 file.

Use TMPGEnc to demux the DVD MPEG file to an .m2v and an .mp2 file.

Change the extension on the .mp2 file to .mpa.

Load both files into IfoEdit DVD Author=>Author new DVD. Author the files to IFOs, VOBs, and BUPs files.

Use Image Tools to burn the authored files to a DVD.

  4. you just need to have VobSub

that you put the *sub file and the movie in the same folder with the same name and in winavi choose the movie file
