I open a vob file in VirtuaDub-MPEG2 1.5.10, and the audio is way off. So, I open the audio tab and correct the audio for being late. I start with -500 ms, and have worked back to 15000 ms, which is 15 sec, but he audio track never changes. This is on Direct Stream or Full Processing modes. I have also tried re-parsing the vob file, but that did not help either.

    Any thoughts?

    Much love!

So, to use this program, i have to make the avi first, then fix the audio problem? Will the AC3 conpletely transfer to the avi even after its been chopped?

Use vobedit to extract the audio and video and then use bbmpeg to mux the a/v back and use the delay feature in bbmeg at the same time to correct the sync. Then import the mpeg to your dvd authoring program. This way none of your video or audio is re-encoded.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Ok. So, how do I use the bbmpeg program to do that. I tried using
    https://www.videohelp.com/bbmpegedit.htm

but all it did was crash the program. I have noticed that some vob files i rip with smartripper are out of sync right off the bat in virtuadub, so i need a reliable way to re-sync the video and audio.

I have had great success with AC3 Delay Corrector, which will work on the AC3 files directly.

Ok. So as a newbie, I have to ask. How do I use this. For one, I get this error message when i try to open the unzipped .exe file

this is what was upzipped from your link

I am using virtuadubmpeg to make avi files out of .vob ripped as chapters from dvd. sometimes the audio and video from these ripped vob files are not in sync, although they are when i attempt to play them in some of my media player.

is there perhaps a better authoring tool to make avi's out of .vobs? the reason i am making avi's is du to the fact that with a high bitrate, i can make a 720x480 clip at about 20mb/min. if there is another program that can do this, perhaps in .mpg format, that would be cool also.

as always, any help will be appreciated.

    Much love!

On the download page for AC3 Delay Corrector is the file you need. I would demux the entire video, not rip by chapter. That way you don't have to put it all back together again.
