I assume you mean the naming of the files themselves?

All releases are tagged a certain way. They say what the format is and the name of the group releasing it. In the case of ts that stands for telesync. There are various other formats as well, scr for screener, tc for telecine, cam for cammed and some others as well. For more info on these formats read the faq on this site.

Other tags are used to show the group that released the movie like THCiSO and EViLiSO etc. Look on http://www.isonews.com to see what group releases what.

tmd doesnt ring a bell as a release group. Are you sure thats not the initials for the name of the movie?

  4. "ts" is telesync as previously noted(recording info)

"tmd" is a group that brings the releases to the net....u will also see other group signatures like...."wh","es",'kmd"

  5. those letters are part of a silly little game that the guys who rip the movies play. the only thing they are good for is so you can identify the rip and go to http://www.vcdquality.com and get some comments and jpg's to judge quality by.

yes these guys are right about it being a tag from the group and and an indication of the source. but that pretty much means nothing. many people tell you it is to indicate quality but that is not true.

CAM = camed video and sound
TS = camed video with a direct sound feed (telesync)
TC = direct video and sound feeds (telecine)
SCR = from a promotional copy sent out by the studio (screener)

dont let anybody tell you they mean quality cause they most certainly dont. anybody who says different has never seen a cam from tmm or a ts from centropy.

i almost forgot to add this...
there are many non original groups on the movie scene like tmd. they take a vcd that some other group released and reencode it to another format and distribute it. some groups do it well like purity or shadowrealm while other dont do it so well like tmd who think a 350 bitrate divx is ok (someone tell these guys thats what navi is for). when you download an avi or asf the group tag cant be used to identify the rip and you will have to go by the TS or TC or whatever is in the title.
