  1. I connected my sony digital 8 camcorder to the pioneer 520 desktop dvd recorder, through the firewire link.
I send the video from sony to pioneer's hard disk.

Then I go to option 'Erase sec' which means erase section, in order to delete some parts of video that are not very good.
I have used this option(erase sec) many times in videos I recorder from tv and it works really nice without any problems.

So, I know how it is used. I mark 'from' field, press enter, then 'to' field, press enter. Then the pioneer asks if I want to delete the selected section. That's all.

But, in this case, of camcorder's recorded video there is a problem: I do the steps I described above and then a message appears, telling me 'Could not edit'. Why this happens? What is wrong?

    Can you please help me?

  2. I have sent email to pioneer customer support.
They told me that maybe it is something on my camera that 'signs' the video as 'read-only'.

So they said, it is not a pioneer problem.

    Is this possible?

  3. Have you tried using the analog connections? I know it's not ideal but the quality should be very good if you use s-video, if that's an option.

  4. tell pioneer you've hooked up 3 different camera's with the same result. see what they say then.

  5. sync I don't think analog connection is a good idea. But maybe i think about it at last.

crazythunder i think i should do the thing you told me!

But I really don't know what is wrong now. It seems to be crazy I cannot edit the video on hard disk.

And pioneer's response is not clear.

I searched my sony but I have not found something to be 'read only'.

    So what?
