    I borrowed one of these from work. Of course, there's no manual, & I have no idea how to get the thing to play. All I want to do is put a Hi8 tape in and capture it to my PC. I can't even get the darn thing to play, and I'm pretty sure it works, else it wouldn't be at the office...

    Any ideas?

    BTW... I'm not interested in buying a manual. I just want to know how to make it play.

    I don't know, it shouldn't be that dificult. I have a broken es-v550. I just hit "play."

    Play isn't working... The more I fool with it, the more I'm wondering if it isn't broken. Just worked last week, though... Oh, well...
