encountering problem when trying to back up the forgotten.
cyclic redundancy error. no scratches - is brand new. my guess, this is the same protection as used in resident evil II, little black book.
I cant recall what its calld - CCE? something like that. regardless, if it IS the same protection, would using DVD decrypter be enough to get around this?
frustrating as hell
thanks/merci

I understand that the newest version of anydvd has employed a method to overcome the latest protection offered by Sony, which is used on "forgotten" if I'm not mistaken.

Use VOB BLANKER to rip it.
Rip it into a folder named the forgotten
Open this folder in DVD Shrink.
Oh yeah then Shrink it.
Voila.
Sorry you need to make a folder named The Forgotten with a folder inside of it named "VIDEO_TS" put the files in the "VIDEO_TS" folder and the VIDEO_TS folder goes in the Forgotten folder.
The newest DVD Decrypter version in File MOde will do this for you.
My problem with Decrypter was I was using ISO mode.
But since you already ripped it make the folders I suggested and use DVD Shrink.
When using VOB BLANKER don't mess with any settings except the input and output directories and it shouldn't give you any problems.

https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1167644#1167644 lists and links to some of the methods to get around RE2. Might be worth a read
If in doubt, Google it.

Bazooka you fortgot to mention FILE mode.
This is key. Some people might try and use ISO mode...
But I don't know who.
You need to use File mode on DVD Decrypter.snappy phrase
I don't know what you're talking about.

hi, ok so I went through vob blanker.
I think I fukked it up.... it went ok, said no errors. 7.some-odd GB's on the hard drive.
so I went to dvd shrink to shrink it.. and the window.. thumbnail window I guess... anyway, it started off showing the progress fine, then it went to green.. it got to around 40 seconds left in the initial analyzation process and then if failed.
so... heres where I swallow my pride. can somebody babysit my sorry ass through this? anyone got a step by fricken step process? cuz.. I'm lost.

You don't NEED to use file mode, just the latest version of DVD Decrypter that knows about Arccos.
-
ok, now I am trying with the latest version of dvd decrypter.
I dont know what I'm doing. but .. these are pretty straight foreward... right?
anyway... I'll let everyone know how it goes..

This is the third movie that I am aware of that will not work in DVD Shrink. The other two being the second Resident Evil movie & The Little Black Book or something close to that title. DVD Decrypter was updated to deal with it. When will DVD Shrink be updated?

I ripped The Forgotten with DVD Decrypter, but every time I try to back up with DVDFab Gold it "Fails" on me.

When I ripped it I ripped the whole disc because I like extras. Probably removing the unreferenced material and using ISO mode will work.
Well it has worked for you. But a full rip ISO won't work for this movie.
Please don't recommend that I update DVD Decyrpter. I always do as soon as the new one is out. Thank you.

I also use the latest version of DVD Decrypter, but in this case I did not have to use it because DVD Shrink was able to rip the main feature out with out problem, but if I was going to use DVD Decrypter for a disk of this size I would decrypt in file mode only unless you have a D/L disk to burn it too.
I have a D/L burner but have yet to try this out due to the high cost of the media.

i still have probs with this dam movie (the forgotten)
got latest dvd decrypter, ripped in file mode (all files), and get a prob at 70%
a walk through guide is needed, for a dummy like me.... !!!!!!!

Try cleaning the disk.
You can use VOB Blanker as a last resort.
If that doesn't work I would say you are having other computer issues or the disk might be scratched.

There's already a Forgotten thread.
