i've been shopping for an HDTV, i think i want to go with LCD about 30" or 32".
A couple things have been confusing though.
The resolution of the LCD TV is 1280x768 but it claims to be HDTV capable of 1080i.
How can it display 1080 lines on 768 lines?![]()
Also, lots of TVs with the same specs seem to have lots of variation in quality. Some just aren't as sharp but they have the same resolution
can anyone help shed some light on this?

It must down convert to 720p. which you are right would not be truly 1080i capable. but would be considered 1080i compatible.
