Does anyone know if it is possible to copy PPV movies with the Pioneer 225-s? I have comcast cable with the new Comcast DVR box. I was hoping that I could transfer my shows off of the DVR box onto the Pioneer DVD-R discs.

Just do it via the line inputs. The only problem is if the program is being transmitted with the copy protection signal (which is described in the Pioneer manual). If that signal is present then the Pioneer will refuse to start the recording, so there is no risk in trying.
