  1. Hi, can someone tell me if I can use dual layer discs on decrypter and shrink. At present i've only backed up a few of my movies but can see a difference in the quality. I would like to know if dual layer discs can be used on the two things I mentioned and if so will I get perfect 121 results. Also would I still have the same success rate copying as I am now (only 1 out of about 20 has failed). How much more expensive are the d/l dvd+r discs, I'm currently paying £0.48 a disc.
    Thanks.

  2. changelog of dvdshrink 3.2
Updated to NeroSDK 1.05, which includes support for burning
DVD-9 dual-layer media. Added DVD-9 target size in preferences
    window
    Also dvd decrypter
Added: Dialog box to remind users to load the MDS file instead of the ISO file - it's good practice and is vital for nice DL burns
    # Added: Proper support for DL media
So yes dvdshrink, dvddecrypter, and nero can all support dual layer burns. DL media is about 30 to 40 times more expensive...your call.

  3. u wont need to use DVD Shrink when copying to a DL disk, as u wont need to shrink it...

just use DVD Decrypter. Mode ---> ISO ---> Read, then Mode ---> ISO ---> Write.

And yes, there will be no quality loss

  4. DL disks are hugely expensive.
I can get dvdr5's for about 28¢ each, DL's are about $10 each.
Here's your pricing in the UK: http://www.pricewatch.dealtime.co.uk/xPP-Removable_media-dual_layer~CR-2~DW-1

true but if you set dvdshrink to do full backup and rip to .iso and auto burn with dvddecrypter it's all automated rather than having to wait 15 mins and then come back and start the burn with dvddecrypter. However, the way you mention may be required if the .md5 needs to be loaded...I honestly haven't tried it even though I have a DL burner..just never had the media.

True. But whenver i use DVD Shrink i always rip the dvd to my HD first using decrypter to increase encoding time and reduce ware on my dvd drive. SO if i'm donna burn it to a DL disk i might as well cut out DVD Shrink altogether...
    ..... 6 of 1 i guess.

This is off topic, but refers to the mfs files. I have 4 ISO files saved but deleted the mds....they are single layer dvds, will they still work without mds files?

If you have the iso files thats all you need. I dont know what mds files are but i know they are not needed as long as you have the iso.

  9. I think mds just holds info for the program that made it,They are not needed.

  10. All you could do with it is open it with the program that made it and burn the image from that info.

gav223 you must have some bad media if 1 out of 20 dont work. I use primarily verbatim and im running probably 1 out of 100 ratio of not working.

  12. I use Decrypter in file mode then copy to dvd to burn my DL without any problems. Used the Iso mode in Decrypter (previous version), had problems with layer break.

Trickyman how does that reduce wear on your Drive.

Ripping with no compression with Shrink is just as quick as ripping with Decrypter.

    How are you reducing wear?

You just like to push more buttons then you need to.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

  16. It does if you use a 2 pass encode.
