Hello,
Sorry that this is gonna sound like a million posts on the board... but I really can't find my answer.
THIS IS WANT I WANTO TO DO...
I would like to create VCDs for use on my computer and VCD compatiable DVD Player from TV (or VHS).
I want to create VCDs as fast as possible... with a decent quality.
I am looking at the Pinacle Studio PCTV, WinTV GO!, and Dazzle DVC.
My computer runs WINDOWS XP, Pentium III at 450Mhz ... but only a 6 gb hard drive. I also have an ATI Rage Pro graphics card.
Any suggestions?, and is my computer gonna be able to handle it?
Thanks,
James

That is tough. The best way is to capture at a high resolution and your computer isn't powerful enough to do that without dropping frames. The HD might also be a problem unless the only thing you are using this computer for is capture. A two hour capture can run 6 gigs if you use really high settings. But the good news is that harddrives are really cheap. I personally have a 40 gig drive I use 30 of exclusively for capture. I have an AIW capture card which, though the drivers are buggy, works great now that I have figured out it's foibles.

I also forgot to mention that encoding on your machine will take FOREVER. before I upgraded to my 1 gig processor, I had a 350 mhz processor and encoding a whole movie in TMPGenc literally took days.
