  1. I've been ripping some DVD episodes and getting "popping" noises in the audio. Is there a program to clean those up or can I rip without getting them?

  2. What programs do you use to do this.

  3. Hmm...guess I should have put this in the first post. Oh well, never too late. I'm using DVDx and TMPGEnc as per Dhruv Bhatia's "DVD Backup without having 8Gbytes free" procedure under the DVD Ripping section of this site. It works fine for the video (Is there a better way to do this?) but I get these popping noises in the audio track.

I think I know what you mean, maybe low-pitched kind of rattling noise? I got rid of it on an XVCD bu re-encoding at a different rate.

Also, I only got the pops on the DVD player, not playing source file on computer.

  6. These "pops" are audible when playing the MPG on the computer and (to a lesser extent) on the TV when playing the VCD. I've thought about stripping out the audio, cleaning it up with a program (anyone got any suggestions which one?) then putting the video and audio back together. For what this is (13 episodes of "I, Claudius" from PBS) it probably isn't worth that level of effort, but it would be nice to know if there was a better way of doing this.
