  1. is it possible to burn a DVD using the M2V (video) and MP2 (corresponding audio) files separately?

I have some 130 files from VHS conversion that i would not like to mix into a MPG before burning the DVD.

i´m using ulead movie factory 3 and apparently its not possible. any suggestions?

  2. What do you (really) want?

A DVD which is playable on stand alone players (this requires authoring to VOB files)
Or do you want to keep the separated streams for backup purposes (then you may just burn the streams as data DVD)

But this has nothing to do with the authoring app you use...

  3. ok, i want a dvd with VOB files, so i suppose i need first the MPG files.

but i have now only the M2V and MP2 files, which i did not like to mix into a MPG, since it would take too much time (130 video files!) and HD space.

is it possible to burn the dvd (with VOB files...) directly from the M2V and MP2?

    thanks for any suggestion.

  4. I have MF3, and I will try and give you some direction.

You can import video and audio files into MF3 - this is how:

Start a new project in MF3, "add file" (video file).

    Then click "enhance video".

    Select the "audio" tab.

Click "add audio" and select your audio file.

    That should do it.

But be forwarned, I have tried this, and it works, but my audio files are in AC3, and Ulead wants to re-encode the whole thing if I add the audio / video files seperately. Your results may be different if using an MPEG audio stream.

Other apps offer easier seperate Audio / Video file handling that I have found (TDA, for example, and others)

    Hope this helps.

Almost all decent authoring apps take elementary streams as source material. Hell, some even require it. Take a look at DVDAuthorGUI and TMPGEnc DVD Author.
