Yeah, why not. Most of the components are made in Asia anyway. I say buy now, while you can still afford them. Special memory chip resins come from Asia.

It CAN'T be good for computer prices. Even though I very much doubt any chip plants were hit, the Asian economy is quite interconnected. Problems in Thailand and southern India (the "silicon valley" of India btw) can raise prices in Malaysia and China, where chips are made.

Many times if they can make the slightest conection to justify raising prices, they will.
I remember when the first Gulf War broke out in 1991. As soon as our planes started bombarding Iraq, the very next day pump prices were waaaay up. You can't tell me that in one day the cost of producing that gas I pumped had gone up yet :P
There was an antifreeze shortage in the US in early 1975 that many people forgot. It was artificial ...prices went up to $6/gallon for what amounts to just ethylene glycol, green dye and waterNone of which was in short supply :P

Let's not forget it's quite a tragedy. They keep upping the numbers however:
"11,000 Dead After Huge Earthquake, Tsunami In Asia
9.0 Magnitude Quake Is Most Powerful In 40 Years.
JAKARTA, Indonesia -- An earthquake of overwhelming proportions struck deep beneath the Indian Ocean on Sunday. The magnitude 9.0 quake unleashed 20-foot walls of water that came crashing down on beaches in seven Asian countries across thousands of miles."

I'm sure any one of those people, or their surviving family members and friends I should say, wished they only had to worry about an increase in computer prices. This seems like a trival concern to me compared to the death, pain and suffering caused by this disaster. Sorry to be so serious.
