My new Christmans present was a Philips DVDR 615.

I am having a little trouble though.

I have a 10 yr old Toshiba CX35D60 TV and when I try the hookup as in the manual I get a "no signal"at the DVDR.I have a coaxil cable from the Satelite box to the in on the DVDR,then a coaxial cable from the out on the DVDR to the ANT1 on the TV.

I cant find the blue menu screen on the TV anywhere,I am not really sure if the TV is even seeing any type of signal.

I have Direct TV and i know it works by doing the old direct hookup.

Does the DVDR actually mess with the properties of the signal and does anyone think maybe the TV is just not set on the right channel.

Why would the DVDR say "no sigal" if the TV just isnt set right?

    Any help would be great!!!

I am starting to think I need to go to the Toshiba site.
I have been messing with this thing all day and it seems like this relatively ancient TV has to be the problem.
I must be somehow missing the channel.
If anybody is reading this does the channel setting on the Sattelite box,the DVDR and the TV have to be on the same channel?

Try it. Set the T.V to someting like channel 3or4 and your the DVDR to change channels.

  4. I have a question about the Philips DVD 615, when I play a movie, it always has an on screen display when it changes chapters. It is very annoying, is there a way to stop this?

If your feeding the DVDR from the satellite receiver through the coax to the RF input on the DVDR, the DVDR should be set to the output channel of the satellite receiver (probably 3 or 4). If your satellite receiver has a s-video output, you'll be better off connecting that to the s-video input on the 615. Then feed the coax from the satellite receiver to the RF input on your TV. Finally, connect the 615 to your television using the s-video or composite (or component if you have an HDTV) output on the 615 to the corresponding input on your TV. Don't forget the audio connection.
