My ATI AIW 9800se appears to have died. I am ******* livid. Games were constantly crashing but the system seems stable now I have swapped it for a 9200 and games no longer crash. I'm ******* steaming here. I have to get this problem sorted in time for the 6 Nations as I have to capture it. Oh, and to top it all off I've forgotten to pay my credit card bill and they've put a block on my card. This means I missed getting series 5 of the simpsons for 17 quid as the price has gone up to 26.99. What a bastard start to the new year.![]()

Maybe you're getting all your bad luck for 2005 out of the way the first week

Hows your power supply?? I had a similar problem with a 9800 Pro (non-AIW) - games, mostly DX9, would hang/crash with tons of artifacts.
Read a number of sites and many comments pointed to power - upgraded to a decent power supply and haven't had a single problem since.
Good luck... (and Happy New Year too!) -
Its a 400w ******. I've already tried swapping PSUs all without success. I may see if I can pick up a decent PSU next week or something.Originally Posted by SquirrelDip

Possibly a driver issue? Guess that would be less likely, they use the same ones don't they? I've seen it recommened many times before to do a complete reinstall of windows when adding a new video card.
Might want to check out www.rage3d.com, I saw a post there on how to completely unistall a ATI card manually. -
Windows XP crashes during install with the 9800 card in. I need some sort of diagnostic tool to see if is is the 9800 thats fecked.Originally Posted by thecoalman

Hmmm, there's an idea. All I have to do now is find someone with a machine they're willing to let me use.Originally Posted by BJ_M

That sucks VCD, I had a Nvdia card go out on me around thanksgiving.
It was the first video card I have ever had go bad, I tested it in 3 boxes just to be sure...it was the first video card that I have had that wasn't ATI and pissed me off so much that I will only buy ATI from now on. -
The reverse is true for me. I've always bought Nvidia, except this card was a replacement for a broken Nvidia and the shit I had to go through to get it is documented on this site here.Originally Posted by northcat_8

It's not going to break his PC, just crash it which, by replacing the original card, will fix ... durOriginally Posted by northcat_8
