This happened to me, and I almost went insane trying to figure out what happened, then I realized that I had broken one of the pins in my s-video cable ...
(so what I'm asking is, is it only that dvd that's in black and white?)-Yar, matey!- -

Short for Phase Alternating Line, the dominant television standard in Europe. The United States uses a different standard, NTSC. NTSC
Abbreviation of National Television Standards Committee. The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States (in Europe and other parts of the world, the dominant television standards are PAL and SECAM). The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 fields (half-frames interlaced) per second. Each frame contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The resolution of an NTSC VCD is 352x240 pixels, an NTSC SVCD is 480x480, and an NTSC full D1 DVD is 704 or 720 x 480. -
oh yeah its just that dvd i played another dvd in my player and it was in color and the screen that comes up when you first turn your dvd on without a dvd in it the screen will be in color. Then when i put the dvd in it goes to black and white.

A Pal DVD will be Black and White ,if your Player Is not Region free and have a Pal to NTSC converter,Or Even somtimes the TV it self will not convert it.I'm not to sure of all the in's and out's.But you do want NTSC.

Can i copy the disc using ntsc and will i be able to have color then or is it something i can do to my dvd player which one of these would be the best option or do you know something better to do?

I would try everything to be honest..Trial and error, You never know...

none worked should i just copy the disc and make sure that its set to ntsc or i have another dvd player it is apex but it doesnt even load or recognize the disc when i put it in.
-
Apex may have a hack to.
If you let Nero convert to NTSC ,it wont be very good. Read up on the link i posted.
Edit: If you are using Nero , even any-other all in-one. -
Color on the computer, then black & white on a settop & TV is a classical sign that you have an NTSC-only TV.
Either reconvert your source to NTSC (guides here), or buy a multisystem TV.
