You dont want to change it to Pal,You want NTSC.

From the glosary on the left<<<
    PAL
Short for Phase Alternating Line, the dominant television standard in Europe. The United States uses a different standard, NTSC. PAL delivers 625 lines at 50 fields (half-frames interlaced) per second. The resolution of a PAL VCD is 352x288 pixels, a PAL SVCD is 480x576, and a PAL full D1 DVD is 704 or 720 x 576.

    NTSC
Abbreviation of National Television Standards Committee. The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States (in Europe and other parts of the world, the dominant television standards are PAL and SECAM). The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 fields (half-frames interlaced) per second. Each frame contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The resolution of an NTSC VCD is 352x240 pixels, an NTSC SVCD is 480x480, and an NTSC full D1 DVD is 704 or 720 x 480.

  6. oh yeah its just that dvd i played another dvd in my player and it was in color and the screen that comes up when you first turn your dvd on without a dvd in it the screen will be in color. Then when i put the dvd in it goes to black and white.

  7. A Pal DVD will be Black and White ,if your Player Is not Region free and have a Pal to NTSC converter,Or Even somtimes the TV it self will not convert it.I'm not to sure of all the in's and out's.But you do want NTSC.

  12. Whats the model Number? You can see if there is a hack so you can play the Pal DVD,Because trying to convert Pal to NTSC will not be easy. For some it is.But i think you should see first about the Hack.

Color on the computer, then black & white on a settop & TV is a classical sign that you have an NTSC-only TV.

Either reconvert your source to NTSC (guides here), or buy a multisystem TV.

    If in doubt, Google it.
