  1. 1. Am i understanding this wrong or is this statement correct? All ps2 play divx? or do you need a modchip done to it or something like that?

    I personally own a ps2 v4 with a magic 3.1 chip FYI.

    2. I was in the market for a dvd play to play all my anime and since divx was the easier and more logical way to go thats what i'm trying to do. This would be mainly for animes that i download off the web and the dvd +/- R's that i burn with nero recode and what not.

I'm looking info divx players and others because how i did it before was 3 shows on 1 dvd burnt as a dvd-movie type. But now with the whole divx i realize i can fit 20-25 on each maybe more. and all in all that saves me a whole lot of dvd's and time as well. and plus i can use the dvd's to transfer it to a friends computer and what not so it all works for me. I dont do much dvd watching aside from the blockbuster rentings and anime burnings. I really like the RJtech 1500 version. due to the fact that it plays mpeg1/2/4 and .avi files. But i dont really know of the maker. Is there another player that can do what the rjtech player does. or comes close. i read about the phlips 642 and ii dont like what i hear, same goes with rj800. those are my uses and needs for a dvd player. Also VCD/Mp3 is needed as well. Price wise is sub 100$ USD.

I normally would just search the list of dvd players on here. but their isn't an option for mpeg1 /2 and what not. only divx. So i assume the market for these are pretty darn slim and i should just invest in the Rjtech1500 since its is the only player that I found that suits my needs, well all except a respectable name. The site scares me because its pretty sad, nothing more then a 1year computer web designer's first project i assume.

  2. I've read somewhere that PS2 can play divx, forgot if something was needed though. i'll try and look for it.

Edit: Found it. PS2 can play divx but you'll need a modchip, but if you dont want a modchip you can use Action Replay MAX to play divx. never tried that though.

Heres a link relating ot hte Action Replay Max device. you may want to check out the PS2 forums at afterdawn.com to find out more about it.

    hope that helps

If it is modded then it should work for sure if you burn the player on disc with the movie. Some chips I believe you can boot the player, then the disc containing the video.

Don't think that it works that well though. I guess better than a DreamCast, but worse than an XBox.
