What are the major differences between the 64 MB DDR and the 128 MB DDR versions of this card?

I am thinking of getting one for converting my VHS to DVD as I know this card doesnt detect macrovision.

    Thanks,

  2. Not much more ram just makes game play better.
Converting Vhs you can do with any ATI card since the 7000. Capn Vhs dont take much more so depends on your cpu & if you have 2 hard drives its even better. As for the macrovision it will pick it up but there are tools to fix that see lord smurfs guides.

So, if my only use is for capturing then the 64 MB card would work?

Also, I dont think the 8500 picks up Macrovision. I have a buddy who has the card and can convert VHS to DVD with no other tools or hacks used.

My 9800 AIW picks up the macrovision however.

He has the 7.6 version of the ATI MMC and the tapes he captures on his system dont show macrovision, whereas the same tape on my ATI AIW 9800 Pro do show the macrovision.

I am currently using version 9.1 of the MMC

    Thanks

  6. I know a guy that has a 8500 i will have to try it out. I dont think i would run out & buy a 8500 just for that tho just use the hacks that LordSmurf has on his site & use your 9800.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the link for ATI hacks.
I have a similar question about comparison of AIW 8500DV and AIW7500, both PAL versions, 64MB:
Are there any significant differencies between them in capturing VHS and digital camera, and are they suitable-usable for those new 3D games for my kids ?

    Thank you in advance.

Has anyone else noticecd that the AIW 8500 card does not detect macrovision when capturing from VHS?

Just curious if anyone else has seen this. As I said, my 9800 does detect it.
