  1. Hi,
I tried to play a VCD not played for quite a long while but it seems not able to be read & played by my DVD player or CDR drive as it took a long time to read & eventually failed. I do not understand why so cos the VCD surface looks unscratched & clean. I'll like to find out whether there is any way to repair the unplayable VCD??? 10q in advance.

Will your CDR drive at least recognize the VCD as a CD? If so, use VCDgear to grab the DAT file and reconstruct the original MPG with it. There is an error correction routine that occurs during this process, too. Afterward, reburn the MPG as a new VCD on a new CD. That might solve your problem.

On the other hand, if your CDR drive doesn't recognize the VCD at all, you might have a corrupted disk ... in which case, you might be out of luck.

At that point, take your VCD to a friend's house and see if his computer will recognize it as a CD. If it doesn't, you've got a coaster (sigh). If it does, have him try the VCDgear procedure on it and burn you a new one.
