Trouble with random DVD's on random players

I use DVD Shrink to make backups of my DVD's. I have about 140 and so far I have had trouble with 10. The weird thing is those 20 aren’t the same DVD's that I have trouble with in another player. In one player it wont read, in another it's fine, in another it’ll stop half way through and in another it’ll have choppy sound/video from the start to end.

I have used three different brands of blank DVD’s and have tried 4 different players. I cannot cross-reference anything to determine some sort of pattern.

My question is…. I use DVD Shrink, should I be using the “deep analysis” option for every DVD because I have not used it on one single DVD. Could that be the issue? Could it be the blank DVD’s, I use Ritek and another brand I can’t think of off the top of my head but everywhere else here seems to like it.

Has anyone had random playing issues and found the source of their trouble? I’d like to know so I can correct this headache.

No, the analysis type won't affect playability. That's only for making the reencoding more accurate.

I think your problem lies in the media. Ritek is iffy media at best. It used to be good stuff, but the last several months we've seen a drop in quality and an increase in complaints here about it.

Taiyo Yuden, on the other hand, seems to just get better and better

So my brand has been getting worse while others have been getting better huh.

No offense towards you but what brand has always been good and performs really well right now? HP, Sony, Maxwell? I rather spend the extra money and use something that is proven. I have some many headaches in my DVD case now because I wanted to save 5.00 - 10.00. Wasn't worth it at all to me.
