I have a Pioneer 520 DVR, VCR, TV and satellite. In what sequence do I need to connect these? Would like to record from TV or VCR to DVD and from TV to VCR. Also, should I run the channel setup on the DVD if I want to control channels through the satellite box?

Most of these devices came with books that have diagrams showing how to plug in what and where.

EDIT.........I have these.....

(I don't have a DVR. I'm using the PCs to record.)
Some of my devices (cable-boxes) go directly into the PCs.
Other devices (VCRs) go into the switchers.
Don't know if this helps or not!
EDIT 2.........The second part of your question.......
If I didn't misunderstand......
The satellite box might have an eye that can control something else.

I connected the antenna OUT from the satellite box to the IN of the
DVD. Then, AV cables from satellite OUT to DVD IN. Antenna OUT from
DVD to VCR and satellite AV OUT to VCR IN. VCR antenna OUT to TV IN.
VCR AV OUT to TV IN. DVD component out to TV component IN. IS that
the best config? -

Make a diagram on paper, and, like smurf said,
there should be an answer in the manual.
(keep your diagrams......including the ones that are wrong)
The reason I have the switchers is for simplicity.

I don't see why you have the antenna cable running from the satellite box to the DVR as well as having them connected via the line input. Just bypass the DVR with the RF/antenna cable entirely and use Line 1 to record the satellite channels. I'd also connect the VCR AV out to the DVR Line 2 input. That way you can record from the VCR to the DVD. You can watch the VCR either via the RF/Antenna signal to the TV or through the DVR by selecting the L2 input via your remote control.

I reviewed the manuals for the VCR, DVR and satellite receiver, along with the info provided here and have my system up and running now. (At least I haven't seen any problems yet). Now that I have everything wired, it doesn't seem as complicated.
