    Maybe Nero CD/DVD Speed would do what you want. https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Nero_CD-DVD_Speed

    If you have Nero Burning ROM v5.5 or higher, take a look at this thread over at CDfreaks. It will allow NERO to show the recording speed in real time.

    Keep in mind that the type of recording a drive uses (ZCLV, P-CAV, CAV) effects the overall speed. In addition, firmwares can play a role (restricting what write speeds are possible for specific media).

    ZCLV = Zone Constant Linear Velocity
    A disc is written to in "step" of increasing speed. Example: a 8x disc 0 - 1.5GB at 4x, 1.5 - 4GB at 6x, 4 - 4.38GB at 8x. (note, I just pulled the "zone" numbers from a hat to illustrate the writing method.)

    CAV = Constant Angular Velocity
    The writing speed continues to increase as the laser moves from the inner track of the disc, to the outer edge. The maximum speed is only achieved at the very outer edge of the disc. If the disc is not filled with data, maximum speed will not be achieved.

    P-CAV = Partial Constant Angular Velocity
    This is like a combination of ZCLV and CAV.
    Example of an 8x disc: 0 - 2GB at 4x-5x, 2 - 4GB at 6x-7x, 4 - 4.38GB at 7.5x - 8x. (once again I just pulled these numbers from a hat to illustrate the concept.)
    Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
