    FYI:

I bought my M10 in July and I live in South Florida. The machine, in standby mode, ran so hot that I thought I could barbecue on it. Some, in this forum, said "their's ran cooly." Now, in Winter, mine runs cooly in the standby mode. Perhaps, the people whose machine ran cooly did not live in a tropical environment.

Where I live is equally as hot as South Florida, sometimes hotter. Summertime temps are routinely 100 degrees (F). The room where it is used runs about 80 (F), though I try to keep it about 75 (F) or lower with fans and A/C.

The machine ran quite cool all summer long.

I had a problem with my first M10 but my second one runs like a champ. My office in my house sometimes peaks up to 85 (f) and I leave the machine running for hours and never had a heating problem.

Maybe JVC is aware of the problem and has made minor changes to the newer models. I don't even see the Loading statement anymore, (unless a bad disk is used). My first model had heating and Loading problems.
    Do unto others....with a vengeance!

  4. Mine got so hot you could hardly touch it. Count on problems in the future with anything that gets that hot. I opened it up one time and the inside was like an oven, bad news.

We all have different environmental conditions and conditions as to how the recorder is placed. I am stating what I observed. Others may have a different scenario. In summer it gets really Hot!!! These cold fronts our wonderful for my JVC, which works well.

Turn on the power saving mode. The machine will be only a few degree higher than the environment in standby mode. Although some people said it is related to the "loading" message problem, I doubt there are any connections.

In summer I use the power saveing mode all the time and if I am home near the time the event starts, I will put it in the Timer mode thus minimizing the hot time. This is an annoyance, but the unit does a hell'va job.
