  1. hey guys,

    I'm running a AMD athlon 2500+, 512 Ram, windows xp, and Nero 6. i have a 24X SONY burner.

my question is, should i be burning vcd's and svcd's at 24X? or is there a common or optimal speed for burning vcd's and svcd's?
ps: should i have buffer underrun error protection activated when i burn?

    thanks a lot.

the maximum speed of the drive should work out fine.

I've never used anything but the max speed of the media and burner with SVCDs and never had any problems. Most of my CD media is 48X speed.

  5. Definitely activate "buffer underrun protection" or whatever your system calls it.
On a properly working burner, I burn at the max rated speed of the media. As my old burner started getting flaky, I discovered that I could still burn, but only at about 24x until I replaced it.
Use Nero's drive test software (included with the Nero 6 package) to see how your drive is doing.
