  1. After many hours of reading and downloading, I am still trying to figure
    out which programs work best to capture DV and watch on a dvd player.

    Is it better to capture to avi and convert or to mpeg 2, or capture to mpeg.

    WinDV worked great, but it only captures to avi.

    Any feedback qould be great.

    IMO if you want to edit, capture to AVI. Use virtualdub to edit, then frameserve to your favorite MPEG encoder, then author and burn. If you don't want to edit, capture to DVD or SVCD or VCD-compliant MPEG, then author and burn.
