  1. I wounder if you can change the subtitles in any way in the .srt or .sub files? Like change size or font? Or make the background real black.

I got a pioneer 470 dvd player. I haven't found something to change in the player so hope there is a way to change it in the files to make it easyier to read?

Or maybe you must add the subtitle to the movie in the computer? Is there a easy guide in this site?

No, I don't think either format specifies font and/or size. That's up to the renderer - your player in your case. ssa scripts contain font info, but then again - what would a DVD player know about Windows fonts and stuff? Adding subtitles to an AVI requires reencoding - not recommended! In that case, you're better off encoding to DVD Video...

  3. hi thanks for the answer i was almost sure that you coulden't change in the files before i asked and you said the same thing then i was realy sure.

But today i saw i movie with different fontsize/backgound and was very confused. It was a .sub/.idx subtitle so it is possible to change it. I will test it some more. You must be lucky sometime =)

.sub/idx contains the "real" subs as images, that gets overlaid, so for those, the player isn't involved in creating the characters from a text file.
