  1. Hi there , I'm trying to encode an MPEG of about 100mb with TMPGenc 3 but it only opens the first 1 minute and encodes that . What can I do to correct this problem ? I've opened with Womble MPEG editor and get the same problem , but the file plays in full with Real player . Weird . I've also run it through VDub-MP3 and not found any bad frames . Anyone know what's going on ?

Go into MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc and Demux the File. Then Mux the audio and video back into a new file. Try to encode with the new file.

Also, http://www.pcphotovideo.com/ReplayPage.htm has an interesting paragraph:

"It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while, AFTER parsing the mpegs through Womble's GOP fixer and doing everything possible, I've come across just one or two frames that ultimately cause any attempt to use the mpeg for DVD authoring to crash. These are not GOP errors or out of sync problems or PTS errors. These are actual "damaged" frames. Because there's usually one one or two out of thousands, (one frame is only 1/30 of a second viewing) you don't notice them during playback. And most players don't have a problem decoding the garbage and at worst you might see a hiccup during playback. (and then it's got to be several frames in a row to be noticed) But while your DVD authoring program is importing it as a DVD authoring asset, if it comes across just ONE of these bogus frames .. you get the now famous, "Error reading video file" or "Temporal what-evers". I usually note at about what percentage the crash occurred and then using Womble go hunting frame by frame for the glitch. Which is tough even when you've narrowed it down to under a hundred out of tens of thousands. Then I cut JUST that one frame out and no one is the wiser. (loosing 1/30th) of a second of video and audio is nothing."

  3. Just tried demuxing and remuxing again and am left with a file of just over 8mb running for the same length as TMGenc reads the whole file . So no improvement , unfortunately .

The other solution might help me out with some different issues I'm having . But won't be any use with this problem as Womble isn't loading the full movie length either .

Thanks for trying to help though .
