What does "PWNED" mean?
I was relieved to hear it. I was Skyping with tgpo and someone in his house came into the room and announced it 8)
I'm glad that it wasn't a repeat of OJ. The prosecution didn't look too sure-footed there in spots, but it all turned out the way we expected, so ...Scotty ....buh-bye. I hope you get a mean, horny cellmate -
Glad to hear they found him guilty of murder. I had wondered if he would get a mistrial after having those 2 jurors booted off earlier in the week. I hope he gets the death penalty.

glad to see that money does not buy everything . I hope they put him with a dirty horse size inmate.
-
I just hope he really is guilty. With no real hard evidence, I'm suspicious...
"Terminated!" :firing: -

Is the sentiment in the US against Peterson that much?
I thought it was about 50/50 either way but from reading the news reports it seems like the majority of you don't like him. -

So he commits double murder. They find his wife's and unborn child's remains on the shore of the same place he claimed to be fishing the day his wife turned up supposedly missing. According to him she went out walking the dog or taking a walk, and she was never seen again.
They caught him approaching the Mexico border near San Diego, Ca. He had radically changed his hair color and appearance, was dressed differently, and he had a bundle of cash. This happened not long after the news was broken that he was a suspect.
He claimed he wasn't trying to run. What he didn't know was that investigators had attached a GPS transponder to his car and they saw every move he made, and that's why he wasn't able to slip into Mexico and disappear. Good move, bugging his car like that. Kudos to the detective that made that decision -
Who will be the next Joey Buttafuco?

You've gotta remember that unless you're on the jury, you aren't privy to all the evidence. It's too easy to convict or acquit based on little tidbits that get leaked or released. There's a lot of stuff that never makes it public.
I've been on a jury for two criminal cases (one was a murder trial) and one civil case. The evidence and testimony is lengthy and thorough. I'd guess that only about 10% of the facts of the Peterson case ever made it to CNN.
The jury found him guilty. They felt there was enough evidence that there was no reasonable doubt. That's good enough for me -
Now Scotty go Die - Die...
Probably everyone has heard this by now:
BREAKING NEWS
NBC News and news services
Updated: 6:16 p.m. ET Dec. 13, 2004
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The jury that found Scott Peterson guilty of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, and the couple’s unborn son recommended Monday that he should die for his crimes. His attorney immediately said he would appeal.
A cheer went up outside San Mateo County Superior Court as the jury announced its opinion after 11½ hours of deliberations over three days. The jury had two options in advising Judge Alfred A. Delucchi on the fate of Peterson, 32, a former fertilizer salesman: life in prison without parole or death by injection.

Anyone know how many appeals are allowed? I know some cases go on forever, and of course, there's always the possibility of it being overturned on appeal.
What happened to the old days out west, where they'd take 'em out and hang 'em right after the trial (if there was a trial)?Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -

in California the case will drag on for an AVG of 10-20 years or more ....
"It could be years before even the first phase of the appeals process begins. The sentence might not be carried out for decades, if ever.
California's death row has grown to house about 650 condemned men and women since the state restored capital punishment in 1978, according to the AP.
Only 10 executions have been carried out since then. The last one was in 2002 -- for a murder that happened 22 years earlier.""Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
it will also cost the taxpayers maybe as much as 50 million for the 'death sentence" .... life in prison would have cost much less of course.....
maybe they can make a deal and ship him off to a mexico or turkish jail or something .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
because it is the taxpayers paying for his defense and prosecution (he ran out of money long ago)
a death sentence costs more than a life sentence because of all the (automatic and not) appeals and also because you are allowed a bigger defense team .. which means a bigger prosecution and such....
it can run to millions and millions over 20 year -- very easy .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
