    What does "PWNED" mean?

I was relieved to hear it. I was Skyping with tgpo and someone in his house came into the room and announced it 8)

I'm glad that it wasn't a repeat of OJ. The prosecution didn't look too sure-footed there in spots, but it all turned out the way we expected, so ...Scotty ....buh-bye. I hope you get a mean, horny cellmate

Glad to hear they found him guilty of murder. I had wondered if he would get a mistrial after having those 2 jurors booted off earlier in the week. I hope he gets the death penalty.

  8. Is the sentiment in the US against Peterson that much?

I thought it was about 50/50 either way but from reading the news reports it seems like the majority of you don't like him.

We've been privy to most of the details of his life leading up to the crime.

The guy is shit. He had a lovely, well-liked, vibrant wife, who was expecting a child. He had what seemed like a storybook marriage.

Then he gets an itch for a bimbo and what does he do ....he works it so he thinks he can off his wife and child .....clearing the way to boff his bimbo ...without an annoying child support or alimony payment.

So he commits double murder. They find his wife's and unborn child's remains on the shore of the same place he claimed to be fishing the day his wife turned up supposedly missing. According to him she went out walking the dog or taking a walk, and she was never seen again.

They caught him approaching the Mexico border near San Diego, Ca. He had radically changed his hair color and appearance, was dressed differently, and he had a bundle of cash. This happened not long after the news was broken that he was a suspect.

He claimed he wasn't trying to run. What he didn't know was that investigators had attached a GPS transponder to his car and they saw every move he made, and that's why he wasn't able to slip into Mexico and disappear. Good move, bugging his car like that. Kudos to the detective that made that decision

EDIT: That looks like Gates in the pic at the top.

EDIT+: Found the audio pronunciations. I personally don't think it translates well.

Absolutely - the guy is shit, and his taste is in his ass (amongst other things when his in the pen with Big Al ).

I didn't know much about the case apart from what I saw on FOX, but for having extinguished a smile like that (and the lives it represented) he should fry .

I'd have to agree. I didn't see anything (that was released through the media) that would have swayed me to commit to a "guilty" vote. I'm of two minds on the subject: if he did it, prove he did it... fry em' if he did. If he didn't do it, and you can't prove that he did it beyond a reasonable doubt... let him go. Regardless, if he won or lost, his life was over.

You've gotta remember that unless you're on the jury, you aren't privy to all the evidence. It's too easy to convict or acquit based on little tidbits that get leaked or released. There's a lot of stuff that never makes it public.

I've been on a jury for two criminal cases (one was a murder trial) and one civil case. The evidence and testimony is lengthy and thorough. I'd guess that only about 10% of the facts of the Peterson case ever made it to CNN.

The jury found him guilty. They felt there was enough evidence that there was no reasonable doubt. That's good enough for me

Now Scotty go Die - Die...

Probably everyone has heard this by now:

    BREAKING NEWS
    NBC News and news services
    Updated: 6:16 p.m. ET Dec. 13, 2004

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The jury that found Scott Peterson guilty of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, and the couple’s unborn son recommended Monday that he should die for his crimes. His attorney immediately said he would appeal.

A cheer went up outside San Mateo County Superior Court as the jury announced its opinion after 11½ hours of deliberations over three days. The jury had two options in advising Judge Alfred A. Delucchi on the fate of Peterson, 32, a former fertilizer salesman: life in prison without parole or death by injection.

Anyone know how many appeals are allowed? I know some cases go on forever, and of course, there's always the possibility of it being overturned on appeal.

What happened to the old days out west, where they'd take 'em out and hang 'em right after the trial (if there was a trial)?

You, sir, are correct. He will continue to burden the taxpayers with his three hots and a cot for at least 10 years. Maybe some con will do the right thing and use a toilet seat on him like they did with Dahmer

    Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. :P

You're right, Cap, especially since he killed an unborn child. Even the cons don't like child molesters and killers, and the possibility of that happening to him is most likely very high. Maybe they'll keep him in isolation just for that very reason?

Maybe. But in prison, anyone can be "got to"

I'm impressed that the jury didn't pull an "OJ" again. This bunch seemed like good, rational, level-headed folk. Kudos to them for doing the right thing 8)

in California the case will drag on for an AVG of 10-20 years or more ....

"It could be years before even the first phase of the appeals process begins. The sentence might not be carried out for decades, if ever.

California's death row has grown to house about 650 condemned men and women since the state restored capital punishment in 1978, according to the AP.

Only 10 executions have been carried out since then. The last one was in 2002 -- for a murder that happened 22 years earlier."

it will also cost the taxpayers maybe as much as 50 million for the 'death sentence" .... life in prison would have cost much less of course.....

maybe they can make a deal and ship him off to a mexico or turkish jail or something ..

because it is the taxpayers paying for his defense and prosecution (he ran out of money long ago)

a death sentence costs more than a life sentence because of all the (automatic and not) appeals and also because you are allowed a bigger defense team .. which means a bigger prosecution and such....

it can run to millions and millions over 20 year -- very easy ..
