When u get a "write error" during process, is it a dvd or a burner error? also sometimes i get a "a media is already written" message even though the DVD is brand new and not even formatted, can this be related to burner?

    Thanks a lot

It could be media or the burner. The easy way to check is to try other media. It also depends what format that 'Write error' exactly was and where it came from and what software you are using to burn.

I was using TMPGenc with my NEC nd 3530A 102B trying to write to a DVD -R that i bought from CompUSA( very cheap so i aggree that they may have problems) But strange thing is, i used around 30 of these DVDs with my Sony DVD Recorder and had only 1 defected.Later i tried 5 DVDs with NEC and got errors in 3 of them, 1 write error in 80% and 2 "already recorded media" errors, i read in one of the guides here that NEC 3530a is not good with DVD-R, maybe this is the reason

further to my problem, now whenever i insert a dvd -r and open tmpgenc i receive "there is already media written in the disk" error, then i can not use the dvd again even with the sony recorder and has to throw it away, i just saw that i have a program installed called "sonic" which is used for dvd writing (i think came with the computer) i have really no knowledge on this issus but can it be possible that sonic automatically tries to format or writes something into the dvd so it becomes unrecordable, i have no problem with dvd -rw

    Try updating your burner's firmware.
