  1. Hey there

I bought a new card with 128mb DDR2 memory and what I have noticed is that my overall computer performance has improved.

If your videocard has a good amount of memory (128 vs 32mb before), does it take some processing load off your main CPU?

    Thx!

Really only when you are doing something that is very graphics intensive such as computer games or 3D computer effects like making 3D Text for a video or some complex 3D image as a background etc.

Ironically Video processing (like capture and editing) really does not tax the computer much unless you are doing alot of special effects like transitions or 3D text/image overlays etc.

  3. I play a lot of movies on my computer and watch them on the tv through s-video

Before, after playing the entire movie, the computer would work very slow. Now, the computer works as quick as i just rebooted it.

Like Fulcilives said, depending on what you're doing a better graphics card can reduce the load on your CPU but it's not just the amount of RAM, it's the speed of the graphics processor as well.
