I was just wondering why they don't go to all digital in the films. I did read an article earlier this year that said a select few theathers in the US were trying out films on hard drives so there would be less noise and a much clearer picture. I saw National Treasure on what they called an Ultra Wide(75') screen and I have to say it was the best looking and sounding film I have seen in a theater to date.

    Hello,

    Short answer:

    MONEY $$$$$$$$$

It's pricey to replace all the projectors.

Plus not ALL STUDIOS are distributing digital prints (that I know of).

I did see Star Wars Attack of the Clones on a digital screen and it was PERFECT I saw it three weeks after the release and it was better than when I saw it on opening night on a traditional screen (no where and tear on digital but still better than the first weekend reel release).

  6. Money it is but not the cost. They are bickering over
who shares what with whom and when. Everybody
wants a slice of the digital pie, from studios, producers, crew unions, cinema ad agencies, theatres and even
Hollywood stars. Cash is not acceptable, they all want
    an ongoing investment.
