  1. Hi, is it possible to get information about how an SVCD mpg file was encoded. eg is there a program that you can run that will tell you the mpg2 file was encoded at 1800kbps CBR or if it was 2 pass VBR at a specific resolution? for example to perhaps see what settings another person has used to encode good quality video.

also - i know VCD mpeg 1 is stored on the CD as a DAT file which, although very similar to a .mpg file is not the same. on an SVCD the file is stored as a .mpg - is there any modification to an mpeg2 .mpg file created from say tmpenc when it is written to an SVCD as an .mpg?

    thanks

bitrate viewer tells you Num. of picture read, Stream type, Resolution, Aspect ratio , Framerate, Nom. bitrate, VBV buffer size, Constrained param. flag, Chroma format, DCT precision, Pic. structure, Field topfirst, DCT type, Quantscale, Scan type, Frame type and bitrate by timecode.
ReMPEG2 tells you the GOP structure of each GOP, avg/ max/ peak bitrate.
The most advanced analyzer is MPEG Repair, that is a MPEG de-/encoder as well btw.
