since the standalone recorders frees up time

Are you spending some of the free time on making fancy menus?

For me, I usually have one track with chapters of different clips.
    Still motion icons.

Am I the only "lazy" one here????

I'm pretty sure I'm lazier than you. I don't even watch menus. I have, however, spent time breaking a concert into multiple titles so I could have each song described and selectable from the title menu (given that my standalone DVR doesn't do chapter menus).

    Hi

Yes, I spend most of the time on the menus. I tape and produce the DVD each week for our church and it gets tough coming up with new menus that are different from the last.

I try not to used the canned menus that came with my authoring software (DVD Workshop 2). As I also author for money, it helps me learn more things about the software I am using.

"Chaptering" in an authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author is a MUST for my VHS to DVD concert video-ing(is that a word?)...
If I have time I will take bits and pieces of the actual footage and make a fancier motion menu or something....but adding chapter breaks between the songs is a MUST in my book. Besides preservation of the VHS....chaptering is the main reason I do what I do. No more rewinding or fast forwarding to get to a song....like on the VHS.
