Hello, I am still getting up to speed on capturing, but I bought a used Canopus ADVC-100 box for capturing, which works really well from VHS tape. What I have been unable to do is see any sort of analog output to TV via the Canopus, do I have to set something somewhere? I get no output whatsoever ....

Capture: Panasonic HD-630 PAL VCR, Canopus ADVC-100, Firewire
    PC: P4 3.0GHz on ABIT AI-7 with 1GB RAM
    Software: Premiere Pro for capture/editing.

I'm using assorted other software too (VirtualDub, TMPGenc DVD Author, DVD Decryptor, IFO Edit, ....) but I would have thought the Premiere preview output at least would show on the TV - The analog outputs on the ADVC box go through a SCART to the TV, but I also tried direct cables "yellow to yellow".

Could my box be broken, or am I missing something really simple?? I have emailed Canopus support but have not heard anything back in about a week.

    Thanks

I have an ADVC-100 and was thinking of trying the same thing, but have not had the time to give it a go. The one suggestion I have is to try something like WinDV, a very simple freeware application. The fewer the options the better off you are in situations like this.

If I get a chance today I will try to output video from my pc through my ADVC-100 onto a TV and IF I get it working I will let you know.

    botanic,

I took a look at my user manual for the ADVC-100 and it says that the unit has to be set to Digital in when exporting video to an anolog camera. I am not sure if the assumption is that the video you are exporting is DV or not.

The manual is not very comprehensive.

The only other thing I think of to try would be to run the anolog output into your vcr and then into your TV.

Thanks for this... setting the canopus to Digital and connecting to the TV via an S-Video cable is now working!

Not sure yet why it still is not passing video through a scart (audio is ok) but the biggie was definitely the A/D switch. I never thought of that at all, since I'm going to an analog destination I assumed .......... never assume!

Thanks, off to play with the scart for a bit now though I guess I don't really need to!
