Are you asking which drive will burn said CMC media at 16x? Try either the DVD writer or media lists to your left or the drive manufacturers website for a media compatability list.

If you are determining which burner to buy based on compatability with CMC media (which by most accounts is garbage anyway), I suggest you don't and buy the better reviewed one instead. And use good quality media instead like Taiyo Yuden, or MCC.

  3. CMC is not garbage.

Look on cdfreaks.com for more info on various media and burn speeds, quality, etc.

    We've had this discussion before.

That's why I was careful to put in "by most accounts". Regardless of the good scans on CDFreaks, the concensus here at VideoHelp still seems to be that CMC is garbage. Many of those opinons though were probably formed some time ago before CMC "improved".

Some of the CMC bashing is coming from ignorant lemmings. CMC media burns great on all 3 of my burners. It is not garbage. I know that, just like other media brands, CMC media will not have great results with some burners. If YOU HAVE USED CMC ON YOUR BURNER and you did not have great burns, that does not mean that CMC is garbage, your burner just doesn't play well with that media. And to those that have never used CMC media and call it garbage, I suggest that you shut up or try it before you claim it is garbage.

tienquang2 wanted to know if it will burn at 16x on his NEC or Pioneer. I can't say as I have no 16x drives, although I'd expect it to burn well at 8x, at least, on the NEC 3500 as I have a NEC 1300 and 2500 and they both burn CMC media very very well. I have burned CMC E01 on my Benq 822 and NEC 2500 at 8x, and the results were very good.

    CMC is improving.
But "big picture" still has a lot of catching up to do.
It is good to hear people with success stories.

I'm trying to acquire one of their newer formulas right now for testing.

But overburning it at 16x? Bad idea.
