how do you make a snapshot of your screen when you are using another program to send the snapshot to a friend to show settings and explain how to use programs,

I use a little 212 kb prog from www.analogx.com

system link on the listed links on the left side. and it's just called "capture".

It's small, it's free and will capture screen or window.

Only down side is it always captures to a bmp file, but that does retain good pic quality and color depth, just larger file sizes.

there's a tiny freeware prog called Scrapture, it'll take screenshots and automatically save them with incremental names (001, 002, etc.) so you don't have to paste.

I use my image editor mostly. Most editors have this ability. You can select what you want to capture, open window, entire screen, window contents....... even entire web pages. www.ulead.com look up photoimpact.
