  1. Hi,
I've been using DVD decrypter to rip my files to the HD and it works great. However, there are a few DVDs that I've been using that will not work. It varies from single sided to dual layer DVDs. I've tried just using DVD shrink and it doesn't work.

This is what happens. It will get to a .vob file and then retry 1000 times and not be able to rip that file down. It will continue to say read error so I'm lost on what to do. I've read through the forums and have not be successful. I've used another program, but that also failed. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.

Could be a couple of issues here.. I have the same problems at times... could be the dvd reader, may need to have it's firmware upgraded... Could be the actual DVD itself..Maybe when it was originally "burned" it could have caused some mastering errors.. A good way to check it is if you get the DVD Decrypter error, try playing it in a standalone DVD Player.. If it won't play, then there's a good possibility that it has mastering errors and can't be ripped..This can be caused by a variety of things, like poor/bad media, a glitch in the DVD Writer functioning, or a combiation of both.. and if DVD Decrypter won't rip it, I doubt if the "DVD Region+CSS" linked software will work... DVD Decrypter does the exact same thing......

    PARANOID?!?!? Who's PARANOID?!?!?

  6. Every time I have had this problem, it has been damage to the original disk. All of the burners I have used have been more sensitive to a damaged disk than a simple dvd player. Smart Ripper will occasionally help, but mostly I have found myself sol. Nyah Levi

  7. Does dvddecrypter beat Sony ARccOS copy-protection? I could not see it in the changelogs. The only reasonn why i advised to try dvd region free+css.I posted about this error some months ago and some one recommended that utilty and had no problems since.

  8. Thanks everyone, but I know for sure that the disc is not dirty. It's a new DVD that I bought and want a backup of. Have any of you had this problem with certain movies? Because I have this error on my decrypted file, am I going to have to re-decrypt the file out. I know that the DVD plays on a stand alone. Just to let you know the movie I'm trying to backup is The Last Samurai, the wide screen 2 disc edition. Usually I don't have problems if I shrink the file and then back it up, but I've bought some dual layer media and am having some problems. Thanks for the help so far, but unfortunately, it's a no go. Please let me know if any of you have any other way of backing it up? Thanks.

did you try the older version of DVD SHRINK? If you're trying to burn a DUAL LAYER MEDIA just use DVD DECRYPTER to create a ISO image then burn it on to DUAL LAYER media. There's no reason to re-decrypt. Use read in ISO then burn the image with write ISO.

  10. Found the problem, someone switched the media from dual layer to single layer. Some ahole must have done this. Thanks. I have another question, has anyone had a problem backing up a foreign movie? I'm trying to backup some japanese movies that I have and during decryption, I get this problem where it can't read the .vob and it keeps trying to read the sector, but can't. Thanks.
