    Hello,

    http://www.detnews.com/2004/technology/0411/24/technology-14570.htm

Boy anytime they do these lists it's pointless... Kids are going to play the latest game anyway they can. Whether it's Mario or Doom their going to get their hands on it.

Besides this just helps them make their shopping list

Remember the whole fiasco over the first Mortal Kombat???? Especially when it hit the console - remember the Ketchup code for Genesis????

  2. WASHINGTON -- Video games that have players shoot rival gang members, watch bare-breasted women and recreate the assassination of President Kennedy were criticized Tuesday by advocacy groups that said, at the least, they should be kept away from children.
I was in GAME recently. A kid that can't have been more tha 12 or 13 years old was buying GTA:San Andreas. The guy behind the counter said "are you with an adult" and the kid just looked around the store and pointed to a woman and said "thats my mum". He got the game.

This game has an '18' certificate here. What kind of checking is that, the woman could have been anybody! No wonder so many of todays kids are so f*****d - up

    Hello,

It's the same as kids sneaking in to R movies. They can put in procedures to stop it but it still happens.

  4. I'm thoroughly sick to the back teeth of this save the ******* children bullshit.

"The fact that the assassination of President Kennedy, which broke our hearts and altered our history, could become the subject of a video game from which people are making money is just outrageous, it is despicable, it's unbelievable," Lieberman said.
Oh please, no one bats an eyelid over Medal Of Honour or BF1942 or Urban Terror etc. Where's this global killer comet they keep promising us ?

Sorry to say... I don't believe it's the games that F***ing up our kids... it's the f***ing slack-ass, absentee parents.

Don't give this crap about violence in the media and how it affects our children. When I was a kid, I watched the A-Team every freakin' week. That show was violent. I'll agree that no one was killed or even shot, but gun play was plentiful.

All this constant coddling and censoring in the name of children makes wanna puke in my soup. Go ahead, raise a child and shield them from the outside world... instill in them only the values that you seem to want to force upon them. When they turn out to be an intolerant, sexual deviant... don't come crying to me....

You blame video games for why kids are so fucked up!!?? Is that a joke?

Shouldn't parents pay attention to the games their kids play?

    I got an idea:

How about we drag all of these touchy-feely parents into a giant sports arena... We'll get em' there by telling them there's some sort of free family day and Smokey the Bear is giving out free handjobs and automobile trash bags. Once they are there, we lock the door and unleash the entire general population of Sing Sing. A few weeks and a few swollen anuses later, we'll let them out. This will lull them into a false sense of security. The first person who starts complaining they are psychologically scarred and they need hug... gets beaten with ******* baseball bat.

This actually would do nothing to cure the touchy-feely, absentee parent problem, but would extremely interesting to watch. Put it right after Survivor.

Instead of spending your time protesting these games, go and spend this time with your kids. Your little bastard lied about his age...dont take it out on the rest of us. I even did did a paper on how games are stress relievers and should be seen as helpers instead of destroyers(got an A :P). Games are games...if you dont want your kids playing em, then dont let them. End of story.

And what's this crap about the kennedy assasination...THAT WAS WHOLE THE PREMISE FOR XIII!!! No one bitched about it then...why now?

    Hello,

Just to reiterate I LOVE violent video games. Though I'm not into the horror games much, just the shooters (never really got into Resident Evil or those types of games).

I think if the family actually cares about their kids and watches over them then what does it matter what types of games they play????? They should know enough to understand bashin someone's head in ISN'T acceptable....

Parents seem to be alot like the US Congress. 90% of the time they do nothing (this isn't an all inclusive statement), but when something easy to quash comes along... they figure... "hey, I didn't do anything else 90% of the time. I better get to work on quashing this."

Exactly...if you think that tomorrow your kid is going to pick up a gun and join a gang because of the GTA series...you've obviously failed as a parent.

The more time your kid spends playing games indoors, the less time he is outside mugging old ladies and smoking crack. End of story. Parents should be thankful.

OH MY ******* GOD ARE you serious??? Parents play with their children??? Get the **** out of here. When is the last time you saw a parent standing in their yard playing pass with their kids? Or playing 1 on 1 in the driveway? Whatever happened to games like Monopoly, Pay Day, and scrabble?

Everyone is too busy. Too tired after work, but apparently not too tired to **** the mother after work 12 years ago.

**** the kids? **** the parents. I see 1500 kids a day that are essentially raising themselves or raising eachother. The kids are just trying to growup, and without any parental guidance, they look for acceptance in peers.

Raising kids is not that ******* hard. How about this...

    1. Belonging
    2. Power
    3. Freedom
    4. Fun

Those are the 4 basic psychological needs of not only your children, but also yourself.

Everyone needs to feel like they belong to something. For most of us that is several things, family, friend group, videohelp, professional, etc. The issue with kids is when they begin to feel less belonging to family and more belonging to friends.

Everyone needs to feel like they have some kind of power. Like they do something very well, or something they do that they are proud of. This is a big loser in our high school or at least in my 165 kids, with is sad. They don't feel like they don't do anything very well. Which leads to apathy. Which leads to low self-esteem, which leads to "lower" social groupings, which leads to drugs and could lead to suicide.

Everyone needs to have some feeling of freedom. Even if it is just freedom of choice. To feel like they personally can make some decisions.

Everyone wants to have fun. When things are fun, we enjoy doing them, and will inevitably do them better.

  16. Remember, kids the all around the world play the same violent video games as kids in the US. Nowhere else is there the type and prevelance of violence seen in US schools.

Don't blame the games as the root of evil as they are not.

That being said, the new JFK simulator IS in poor taste but I don't seen anything particularly wrong with it. If you don't like it, then don't download it or play it.

    Regards.

    I love you guys!

Does anyone else here put extra bullets in the head when they're playing Soldier of Fortune 2? I like it when the head disintegrates & you see a bit of the spinal cord! Ha ha...

Here in Australia we've heard the "latest outcry" from "U.S.A." about the "violence" in computer games...how it "corrupts" the youth...etc...

But what about ADULTS that play these classic games??? Us ADULTS want SEX and GORE and VIOLENCE and total NASTINESS!!!!!!!! Heh!

(Personally, I don't see how it "corrupts" youth anyway. It's just a game. Life is worse!)
