  1. Greetings! I can't seem to find info regarding a straight conversion from MPG to VOB..? I have TMPGEnc2.5 and Nero 6,6.0.01 but neither seems to want to let me. They were originally WMV files whichh I have now converted to MPG... I think.

If there is a simple way to go from compliant mpeg straight to .vob I would be interested as well, in fact I think quite a few people would be!

The other approach would be to use authoring software that does not re-encode compliant mpeg and do as little editing as possible. Ulead Video Studio 8 does this and I am pretty sure TMPGEnc DVD Author will work as well.

TMPGenc DVD Author will convert MPG to VOB quite easily, not 100% sure if it will handle MPEG1

TMPGenc DVD Author is easy to use but has a very annoying habit of greeting you with an error message if its not strickly within the DVD specifications and will NOT let you carry on

It won't let you mix NTSC or PAL on a single DVD for example, and will greet you with an error, and not let you burn the DVD as its not within DVD specifications

You can quite easily fool the software though using DVD Patcher, which I have done, still need to write a proper guide on how to do it to help others in the same situation though, I'll get around to it, its on my list

  4. I'm Downloading tmpgenc dvd author now and have downloaded DVD Patchher as well but have a question; This may be representative of my ignorance of the topic but, is the file extension "mpg" the same as or equilant to the file extension "mpeg" and if so.. which "mpeg1" or "mpeg2"?

    Can be either.
    If in doubt, Google it.
