Hi, my printer is about to kiss death and reading thru video help, it seems that the R200 is the favoured printer.
In Australia, their isn't an R200 but there is a R210. So it shouldn't be a problem, go down to the local discount shop and walk away with an R210. BUT have you seen the cost of ink in Australia, I want to buy a box of cartidges from megatoners and wait 8 weeks for them to arrive. However, megatoners doesn't stock R210 but it does stock R200 and having a family of heavy printer users, I know better than to buy a printer without checking the total cost of ownership.
So my question is: Can R200 cartidges fit into the R210?

The new model is the Canon PIXMA iP3000 but I don't know
anything about it except that it does CD/DVD discs
I have an Epson R210. Prints are fantastic but there are
a few flaws which make the Canon a better buy.
1) The CD/DVD Loading tray mechanism is flimsy and often needs
fiddling with to get it to load correctly after several prints.
2) Original ink use & cost is horrific. If you go the path
of recharging you have to get an ink chip resetter and
you run the risk of clogging the print heads. Many after market
carts don't work correctly.
3) Having 6 tanks = more expense, not less, as all are used
when producing full colour images on DVD's. The i865 has
only four tanks and an extra black so if you need to print
lots of text on paper you are not spending a fortune. -
Who does text on paper with an inkjet. Blah. :P

Yeah; it's not ideal re: terms of cost per page & life span BUT
most still have sole use of an ink jet and that infers that text
on paper is used.
Why indeed did Canon decide to
increase black capacity on their SOHO range?? A increase
in an ink not suitable for CD/DVD or photo printing? Why
is HP doing the same? Hmm... -
Personal lasers have come down so much, it seems a waste to use an inkjet for non-color documents unless you just don't have the space. I have a laser and an HP PSC2110. I mainly use the HP for scanning and whenever I need a full color print. For everything else I use the laser. I have a Samsung myself (Black Friday deal a few years back for $100), but I see a Minolta personal laser on for $100 every week or so. Of course this is here in the US, not sure what personal laser

I have considered buying both b&w laser and colour inkjet. The ironic thing, is as the postage from the states to oz will kill the saving in toner costs, that if you are willing to wait 8 weeks for your ink, then the imported ink is cost effective against the local toner.
Have a nice Day
