  1. It has been over a year since I have been on the forum well. I was wondering about the dual layer drives. One thing is can you just pop in a full size dvd now and copy it with out compression? if ouy have the disc and the drive to do it. I really want to copy episodic dvds The simpsons,The Shield,Nip tuck stuff like that with out losing quality

Dual layer dvd media is just hitting the shelves which in my opinion are quite costly. 4x and 8x speed single layer discs are fine with me because you can get them at decent prices in retail stores and online stores like RIMA.COM. I'll be waiting awhile to purchase a DUAL LAYER DVD BURNER.

I agree with budz. DL is still yet quite expensive (the media) and the technology is still rather in its infancy. The main concern is compatibility, how many dvd players are able to play burned DL disks. What about DVD-R9, when will this be released. I would also wait for dual format dual layer drives.
