    hi all,

ok here's the thing...bare with me please:

I captured many AVI files that are stored on an AV dedicated hard disk.

the AVI files get imported fine when I use Premiere 6 and edit them on a timeline.

BUT when I try to import them ( avi files) OR the (timeline) worked on premiere 6 to => PREMIERE PRO the import fails. TIMELINE shows OFFLINE MEDIA because AVI files wouldnt get imported but audio work fine...
when trying to import those AVI files, PREMIERE PRO gives an error message saying:

" Unsupported format or damaged file)..which is not true, since the files are not corrupted, and the format is frickin AVI, so what's up DOCCCC?!?

I'm not done yet!..... I also need help on those please:

I also use AVID Xpress DV 4.3 and Pinnacle Liquid 5.5.

Xpress: in this case the files dont get imported in the first place..so help on how to import to avid xpress.

Liquid: in the liquid case..the files DO get imported..but on timeline..only audio files play...as for AVI the screen gives me a white feed with no image.

    SUMMARY:

I need help on three things here:

    Importing AVI files to:

    1) Premiere Pro 2) Avid Xpress 4.3 3) Pinnacle Liquid 5.5

THANX-A-Million...I know this will take some serious time to answer!

captured them with what ? what type of avi file are they ?

there are at least 50 types of avi files ...

express dv is only for dv (and some types of qt i think) , it also installs the avid dv codec , which sometimes doesnt work with other programs ..

generally i suggest you dont have all those programs on one system ...

Capture card is Matrox RT2500 which works great with premiere 6. as for the type of AVI...give me a tip to find out what type of the 50 it is, and I'll get back to u.

regarding the xpress, it does import avi files, so does liquid. but its not working. there must be something i should be doing..thus my request for support.

do u have any feedback for why the timeline from premiere 6 is not imported in premiere pro correctly? although in the manual, it says timeline from premiere 6 onwards, can be imported right away!

regarding having those softwares on one system, i have different profiles for each, and so far, no conflicts...( i can tell, because all can edit dv with no issues)

plus...its good training for me, because not all production houses use ONE type of software...so variety creates broader knowledge. I'm a broadcasted media graduate, expert on linear editing machines...and avid media composer...but not on the softwares currently on my pc. ( so u know now how bad i need a good advice )

feel free to give a more detailed feedback..especially regarding premiere pro.
