    Can anyone help? I'm looking to see if this unit (in it's day) was as good as a Detailer II or III.

    HVE-100 is good its a repackage, Doesn't have all the great Circuit and filters as Detailer 2 & 3 but is very good should give you good result. I personally like the Vidicraft Detailer 2 but 3 is still pretty good. Yours should have the split screen which is handy. So you can see the improvement.
