  1. I'm looking at buying a DVD Recorder for the Office. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just a DVD Recorder that works like a VHS.

I'm putting copies of videotape evidence that will be used in court; Drug buys, witness/defendant statements. Drug buys last about 30 seconds, and statements can go from a minute to an hour. Video tapes are too big and are taking up too much room. I want to be able to store the DVD's with the case file.

I'm looking at brands that Wally World (WalMart) carries. Abot the only place in town that has any.

Like what I'm reading about the ilo DVDR04.

    Suggestions?

You'll read on this forum of users that occassionaly have problems playing back content on various playback decks due to many things (encoding, media, etc) so, you will encounter that your DVD may not play on a certain player whether at your facility of if you have to provide the disc to a courtroom or lawyer. Picking the best media will help and a good recorder. (Panansonic, JVC, Liteon, etc will also help.

  3. As long as I can get a simple DVD player for playback, that's all I'll need. We use our own equipment in the courtroom.

The law enforcement agency will keep the orginal tape at their office so I'll give the attorney's the copy of the VHS from the police that I will burn to my DVD.
For any other copies; appeals court, multiple defendants, then I can make a VHS from my DVD.

Probably will just go to W.World, buy one, try it out and return it if necessary.

    Thanks

Look to the left under DVD players for compatibility in disc playback.

I believe that panasonic and sony are better and more reliable than those other brands that are on the market.
