The Cubs own the longest drought. It was longer than the Red Sox, 96 years 1908 (it was on sportcenter this morning)...but no one knew about that because of all the crying and whining from the east coast.

    Hello,

I think in Hockey (NHL) its Chicago with like 50 years or something. I know the Wings had a 42 year wait until we won in 1997

Yea, Christ, next thing you know people are going to want the Browns to win a Superbowl

It's not that I dislike Bostonians anymore or less than I dislike the rest of society. But I hate Pedro Martinez, he's a ****. On a side note: Attention Reporters....do not, I repeat DO NOT interview Manny Ramierez, thank god he plays baseball, otherwise he would starve to death.

    Hello,

    On the way????

I thought they already got it by default when the season started!

    Kevin

---just kidding, but assuming they do get to the superbowl again it will probably go down to another field goal again! --

The Pats are tough, no doubt about that. I'm hoping my Steelers are as good as I hope they are come this sunday. We will soon see, I know it won't be Cincinnati or Cleveland showing up at Heinz Field this Sunday.

I really don't see anyone out there to challenge the Pats either Pittsburgh MAYBE...other than them though....and don't say the Eagles, they couldn't beat New England if they played them 5 times. NE has better players, better coaches and are just plain out better than the iggles.

    Back to the topic.........

WAY TO GO RED SOX !!!!!

I was hoping they would do it because if they can (and they did) break the supposed curse, then my team, the Cubs, will see that it can be done.

The Cubs also have a curse, although it's not as famous as the curse of the Bambino It's the Billygoat curse

  16. "Capmaster" I'm a big Red Sox fan but I would love to see the Cubs fans win. In one way i think its better that the Cubs and Sox did not play each other. So both curse can now be broken.

I would love to see the Cubs win.

I started being a cubs fan back in the 80's.

They had Leon Durham, Ryan Sandberg, and Ron Cey.

That was something we discussed at home: What if the Cubs play the Red Sox. Of course we have to go with the Cubs, but our house is also a Red Sox household. We love 'em. We would always want the Cubs to win, and they had been waiting a lot longer than Boston for a World Series win. Well, last year the Cubs fell apart like a cheap suit, and the Red Sox didn't make it either, so there was no discussion. This year the Cubs lollygagged all year and didn't come close to playing up to their potential, with the best starting rotation in the NL. They sucked this year :P

Our ideal scenario this year was to see the Red Sox pound lumps on the Yankees, then violate the Cards Being a Cub fan, it's mandatory to root against the Cards Seeing as how no NL team was going to stop the Cards this year, we rooted like crazy for Boston ...and they didn't let us down 8) 8) 8)

Good man That 84 team was awesome ....Jody Davis catching, Rick Sutcliffe pitching ...Lee Smith in the bullpen, and the three you mentioned, of course

Do you remember the NLCS that year? The Cubs played the Padres and it was a 5-game series then. The Cubs won the first two games and it looked like they would go to the World Series, only having to win 1 of the next three. Well ...they lost the next three straight, keeping the curse alive And after last year with having a 3-1 advantage over Florida in the NLCS, losing the next three games .....I was so mad I was farting lightning all week I knew then that the curse was alive and well, and the Cubs would forever play with themselves ...never winning the big prize. I still think that, but being a lifelong Cubs fan, after all those years of conditioning, I still am heard to utter by rote the Cub fan mantra of all time ...."Maybe next year?"

I don't root for a particular MLB team. I'm not a fan of "9 man stand around" perse' . I like baseball and I like to play baseball, but I am not a huge fan of any of the pro sports, especially NBA...which simply sucks IMO.

I like to watch certain players play. I like to watch Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Kerry Wood, Clemens, Gagne and a few others pitch. I like to watch Bonds, Edmonds, Pujols, Sosa and many others hit. I like to watch Omar Visquel, Torey Hunter, Pudge, Jeter, Furcal and many others play defense.

I don't hate the Bo-Sox, I just hate Pedro. Matter of fact, I like several of the Boston players. I like Manny, Veritek, Schilling and many others.

As I said, I am glad Boston won. Now next season we all won't have to hear about how the Red Sox were so close but failed to win, yet again.

    Yep. I remember it.

I still wish some of those guys were playing.

Of course they would be ancient by sports standards today.

  26. Well, since I am from Canada, I was pulling for the Cards because of Larry Walker. However, I am pretty happy the Red Sox won. Im soooooo sick of hearing about that "The Curse of the Bambino" nonsense.

They didnt win for the last 86 years because they either a) sucked, or b) the Yankees typically beat them. Babe Ruth had nothing to do with it lol
