  1. Has anyone had any experience with a program called DVD Cover Searcher (http://www.cheapshareware.co.uk/)? I stumbled upon this software program while searching for something else. It looks like an interesting app, but so far I've had limited success with it.

I downloaded the trial version and was able to pull down one cover (Man on Fire) and from the looks of it, it's a pretty high-res cover (perhaps a la the now defunct DVD Coverart site). Unfortunately, that was the only cover I was able to pull down. The problem I encountered, however, is that the download was ridiculously slow, and every other cover I tried to download through the software stalled and eventually shut the program down altogether.

The website had a Knowledgebase that contained an entry from another user detailing the same issue (i.e. slow or stalled downloads) and the website's response was that it was due to traffic congestion between the ISP and their website. The entry was posted today, so perhaps they are having temporary network issues.

I have a question and a request. My question is, as stated above, has anyone used this program and what's their take? And my request is for others to try this program, see how it works for them, and report back.

I use this and have found it very useful. All it does is search http://www.cdcovers.cc/ for the covers but it makes it alot quicker. I've found it don't find everything you want so i just go directly to the site and grab it.

Mmm, dont seem to work too well for me. Was looking for a cover and it wouldn't find what i wanted. Went to cdcovers.cc and found it by looking myself... Then copied and pasted the title into karelsoft and it still wouldnt find it....

  5. Hmmm. I'm not so sure that this program searches cdcovers.cc. I was able to find several covers on the site that the program couldn't. That being said, I'm finding that many of the covers I pull down using this software are pretty darn good in the quality department -- many of which beat the ones acquired from cdcovers.cc. I really was never much of a proponent of cdcovers.cc, to be perfectly honest. The now defunct DVDCoverArt had the best quality covers by far. However, in recent months, I've noticed that not only has cdcovers.cc vastly improved the quality of its holdings, but they've expanded the list of titles as well. They've still got a ways to go, but they're getting better. But I digress.

As with the DVD Cover Searcher software, although the quality of covers are good, the software itself is far from optimal. The time it takes to download a cover is downright laughable. I've had a few downloads take over 4 minutes!!
Sad This problem only seems to be exacerbated when attempting downloads during the day. Download times seem to be slightly improved the later it gets.

Overall, though, I'd say that I'm fairly satisfied with the program so far, slow download times notwithstanding. I'll try out the other links suggested here in this post.
