I started my first DVD rip in AutoGK and all worked (took 12 hours or so on my 1.4ghz). I set the Width to 720 but it didn't ask me for the height (which ended up at 544 instead of 480).

    1. Is it supposed to take this long?
    2. How can I get the height set to 480 like it's supppsed to be?
    3. Why does it need Winrar for external subtitles?

Thank you in advance dor any help...

it resizes to 1.33 ratio if you don't crop anything. 720x480 is resized to 1.33 when you play it on a dvd.

So, you're saying if I crop it some I can get the Height correct? I don't see any cropping options.

You shouldn't use 720x480, you should use a 4:3 aspect ratio(it is 1.33, width / height = aspect ratio). If you use 720x480 the video will look stretched.

  5. Dont expect an mpeg4 file just to be a smaller version of an mpeg2 file there are many diffs esp in aspect ratio. If you leave AUTOGK on auto, to do its thang, it works very well..basically it depends where you want to play back the result, TV or computer.
On a 1.4 it will take a while, 12hrs sounds about right.
    winrar? Because it does.
