  1. Ok, here is the situation. Ijust got my TiVo today and noticed that it has two USB ports on the back of the unit. I want to be able to unplug the tivo and plug it back up to the computer to record what I have already recorded to the TiVo. I have looked everywhere for a guide but have not been able to locate one. Can anyone direct me to where it is I would like to go. FYI, the TiVo is a Hughes SD-DVR40.

to the best of my knowledge, those usb ports are for ethernet adapters to network. i use the RCA outputs to my capture card to record tivo.

  3. Do a GOOGLE search on "hacking the tivo" or "tivo hack".

    You'll get a bunch.

  4. Hey thnx, I found what to do here: http://www.weethet.nl/english/tivo_dtv2_hacksleeper.php
But can I do this without hacking the TiVo and not open it up. Or should I just buy another USB TV Decoder. I have an old Lifeview USB TV which sucks. Any suggestions for $100.00 or less?

  5. Tivo hacking has gotten a lot easier for newbies in the last year, but you still have to open up the box, be willing to void your warranty, and be comfortable working with PC internals.

www.dealdatabase.com if you want to learn all there is to know.
I have nothing profound to say, so I'll just mention some things I really like (in no particular order): Tivos, Audis, Isuzu Troopers, Canon camcorders, Macs.
