camcorder and new widescreen tv

Hi All,

Need some help. I have a sony camcorder about a year old and just got a new widescreen tv. When I plug the camcorder into the widscreen tv.
The formating of the video is not correct. It shows in 4x3 but overlapping it. I tried putting the widescreen in 4x3 mode and still have the problem.
Also, tried full, just modes of streching it to 16x9. It's all ntsc since I am in the US.

Any ideas why? Works fine my old tube 4x3 tv.

Have you tried pluging in a different 4x3 source (say, a vcr) into the same ports, just to see if the problem is with the TV, not the camera ?
