    hello everyone!
I am attempting to capture from vhs a tape from 1989 but the video seems reeeeal jumpy..like the tracking is way off but it's not . I am familiar with the whole capturing process and how to get it to dvd..i'm just wondering if perhaps there are some vcr's that are more "robust" and might be able to play the tape fine whereas perhaps newer or cheaper models would not..any idead would be much appreciated!

    Hello,

Tracking is the major issue. I've often found just watching a videotape on a machine different from the one it was recorded on will introduce tracking problems.

People here swear by SVHS vcrs with TBC. They're pricey but apparently work well.

A cheaper way might be a Video Stabilizer ,but TBC is Much Greater with Greater Results.

  4. Sometimes just watching the tape a second time corrects the jumpy video. It may help to FF and RW the tape first before viewing it.

i've tried the FF and RW but it's still all jumpy and the colors seem to run all over the place as well..i think i might capture a low res couple seconds of it if anyone cares to view the anomaly :P. I know this is a tape specific issue because I have captured other vhs tapes using the same setup and it has worked fine. I wonder if the old analog battleaxes with the manual tracking dial would save me :P...if SVHS has a better time I might rent one just to capture..

    Thanks again!
